On a total of 478 days, 4,825 vehicles were checked in five federal provinces. 1,355 of the vehicles were found to be cases of imminent danger, 1,683 had serious shortcomings and 1,627 had minor ones. These figures clearly indicate the importance of these safety checks for taking defective lorries off the roads because they represent a safety risk.
During the safety checks, mobile inspection lorries are on the roads with one control supervisor and two control assistants. While the police ensure that vehicles are safely removed from traffic, we take care of checking for vehicles with technical deficiencies. Afterwards, we draw up an inspection report. Any penalties and other sanctions are once again a matter for the police.
